Proses Desalinasi adalah proses mengurangi kadar garam pada air atau bisa disebut merubah air asin menjadi air tawar. Proses ini bisa juga berfungsi merubah air limbah menjadi air tawar. Secara umum ada 3 Jenis Proses Desalinasi yaitu : 1. Proses Penyulingan (Destilasi) 2. Proses Menukar Ion 3. Proses Penyaringan (Filtrasi) Proses Destilasi Proses Destilasi ini adalah proseskan menguapkan air dengan energi panas. Uap air tersebut kemudian didinginkan menjadi titik-titik air lalu ditampung sebagai air bersih yang tawar Proses Menukar Ion Proses menukar ion menggunakan bantuan zat kimia untk memisahkan garam dengan air. Pada proses ini ion garam yaitu NaCl ditukar dengan ion Ca2+ dan ion SO4-2. Materi penukar ion berasal dari bahan alam atau sintesis.
